NORTH CAROLINA — Both N.C. State and the UNC System announced changes to classes Wednesday amid coronavirus concerns.

  • UNC released a statement indicating that all UNC System institutions will transition from in-person instruction to an alternate course delivery
  • N.C. State has extended Spring Break until Monday, March 23
  • Both N.C. State and UNC have prohibited on-campus events, meetings, and gatherings of more than 100 people

UNC released a statement on Wednesday indicating that all UNC System institutions will transition from in-person instruction to an alternate course delivery no later than March 20. The alternate delivery will begin March 23 and last indefinitely.

Additionally, all outside events and gatherings of more than 100 people will be cancelled or postponed unless otherwise authorized by a chancellor or provost.

In another statement, N.C. State has cancelled classes and has extended Spring Break until Monday, March 23.

Effective immediately, N.C. State has prohibited on-campus events, meetings, and gatherings of more than 100 people until further notice.

Additionally, all university-related travel outside of North Carolina or within the state to gatherings of 100-plus people, is prohibited until further notice. Students can fill out a form to appeal for special circumstances.

N.C. State students are also encouraged to fill out a Spring Break Travel Registry form upon returning from break to let the university know where they have traveled. The information will be reviewed in order to best advise individuals on health-related measures.
