Tired of the cold and seemingly endless snow? This weekend, take a trip to paradise without going further than the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

Plantasia kicked off Thursday and runs through Sunday. The garden and landscape show offers bold and beautiful ideas for turning a backyard into a destination for relaxation.

"We change the theme up each year and the idea is, after a long winter, to encourage people to come out and see something different and unique and really encourage them to use the space in their yards," said Mike Frank of Chevalier Outdoor Living.

After a long Western New York winter, that's exactly what people are looking forward to.

"People in Western New York really love their gardens; they love our summers,” said show chair Chris Zeisz. “Unfortunately, the winters are a little bit long, so they want to make the best of their space in the summer time.”

There are more than 100 vendors at Plantasia ready to help make a yard of any size or shape look picture perfect in no time.

"The biggest problems with plant material and trees is people tend to plant them in the wrong area,” Zeisz said. “By talking to people that actually know the material and know what's available in our area, you're going to plant it and be able to enjoy it for years to come.”

The show runs 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at the door and an admission coupon can be found here on their website.
