GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A campaign is working to boycott R. Kelly's music and performances -- including one at the Greensboro Coliseum next Friday.

  • The R. Kelly concert is scheduled for May 11.
  • The #TimesUp campaign is asking for the boycott of Kelly and are calling for further investigation into him and his behavior.
  • This comes after the hashtag #MuteRKelly being used by celebrities and #MeToo advocates.

The Women of Color Coalition of the #TimesUp campaign not only sparked the idea of boycotting R. Kelly's music and performances -- but they are also asking for further investigation into his behavior.

He's scheduled to perform at the Greensboro Coliseum next Friday, but tensions are high for Kelly and his team after his show was canceled in Chicago last week.

Those in support of the boycott say beyond the allegations of sexual abuse that have followed Kelly for decades, with new accusers recently coming forward, some people say they just don't feel right supporting his music anymore.

Greensboro Coliseum officials would not comment on whether or not R. Kelly’s show could be potentially canceled like the one in Chicago last week.

But they did say based on ticket sales, they're expecting a crowd of more than 5,000 people -- similar to the last show he had in Greensboro in 2016.

Celebrities and other #MeToo advocates have starting using the hashtag #MuteRKelly in support of boycotting his music.
