GREECE, N.Y. -- Court paperwork says a barbell to the head led to the death of a man on Old Edgemere Drive in Greece Tuesday.

Police have charged 41-year-old Cynthia Whitaker in the death of 69-year-old Michael Taylor.

Police say the two were involved in a fight Monday night when court paperwork says Whitaker threw a barbell weight at Taylor, striking him in the head.

Taylor was found dead at his home on Old Edgemere Drive by a family member.

Police say Taylor and Whitaker were involved in a dating relationship over the past few years.

They say Whitaker willingly interviewed with police before she was placed under arrest on a charge of second-degree manslaughter.

“We do not plan on making any additional arrests," said Greece Police Chief Patrick Phelan. "The charges could be upgraded at a later time. We’re waiting for the results of the autopsy for that, she’s been charged with Manslaughter Second at this time. Those charges could be upgraded either through ourselves or through the grand jury process, but we’re going to need the results of the autopsy before that happens.”

Phelan says its unclear whether Taylor died from the force of the hit to the head or blood loss.

The Monroe County Medical Examiner's office is working to find that out.

Whitaker is being held in the Monroe County Jail on $50,000 cash or $250,000 bond.
