FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Officials with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers said crews were adding finishing touches to the stadium before the opening night on April 18.

More than 6,000 people will be at Thursday night's game which is sold out. Officials are tight-lipped on what all fans will experience during the big game. They told Spectrum News the night will begin with fireworks. Following that is something Fayetteville and the surrounding areas have never seen before.

"It's a very surreal experience especially for members of our staff who have been here since the groundbreaking and saw a completely empty field," spokeswoman for Fayetteville Woodpeckers, Victoria Huggins said. "Now there's a $40.2 million stadium here ready for our community."

The stadium will officially open its doors April 18 at 5 p.m. The first pitch will happen at 6:30 p.m. and the game will begin at 7 p.m.
