Thursday evening was supposed to be an opportunity for a hurt and angry community to ask questions of city and community leaders regarding the march death of Daniel Prude.

The United Christian Leadership Ministry hosted a forum at the First Church of God, and invited Rochester Police Chief La'Ron Singletary, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren,  and city council members to attend and speak on a variety of topics.

But before any of them had a chance to address the community, protesters arrived at the venue.

“What we see is atrocious from leaders in this community. The mayor, La’Ron Singletary the chief. For six months they knew," said Anthony Hall of Rochester.

The situation got heated as people screamed and pushed against each other.

The group had several topics planned for discussion about why the officers involved in the incident were still on the Rochester police force while being investigated and whether white supremacy exists in law enforcement in the area.

Protesters say they believe that since Prude's death was almost six months ago, the time for talk is over: immediate action is needed.

“We don’t need to talk," said Hall. "Why are you meeting? We know what happened. The medical examiner ruled it a homicide, we know what happened already. Why are we sitting in a church parking lot meeting?”

UCLM President reverend Lewis Stewart says he is just as angry as the protesters who came to his event, but he says there will always be a time for discussion.

“I have found out through my years in order to move things forward, and push through change, you must channel that energy, that anger, into something positive," Stewart said.

The event ended early, with the mayor leaving following a second round of protests.

But it ended with prayer.
