LUMBERTON, N.C. -- FBI agents and Lumberton Police have confirmed that the body found in an area off Wire Grass Road in Robeson County Tuesday afternoon is that of Hania Aguilar.

The body was found around 4:45 p.m. in a body of water.

Officials were following leads related to the search for 13-year-old Hania Aguilar when they made the discovery.

Aguilar was missing for three weeks, after she was kidnapped early in the morning on November 5 while in front of her home. She was forced into an SUV that was discovered three days later a few miles from where she was kidnapped.

Andy DeLarocha of the FBI says he explained to Hania's mother last night what they found, and pleads the public to not spread rumors on social media.

Authorities are now working to find who's responsible for her death and how she died.

On Thursday, students and faculty at Red Springs High School wore purple to honor Hania.

If you have any information about the person responsible for the crime, call 910-272-5871. The FBI is offering up to $30,000 for information.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Hania's family.
