Valvano was NC State's legendary basketball coach. Supporters made a $5 million pledge to honor him. He died in 1993 of cancer.
Valvano became NC State's men's basketball coach in 1980 and led the team to a national title in 1983. He also served as the director of athletics from 1986 to 1989.
The arena will be dedicated on December 5 at NC State's Heritage Game.
