RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Wake County Chapter of the N.C. Sheriff Police Alliance has set up a Gofundme page in order to help a Raleigh police officer who was shot multiple times while responding to a suspicious vehicle.

According to Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown, Officer Charles Ainsworth is out of surgery and in recovery.

Sources say the officer was shot multiple times in the face and neck.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday on Western Boulevard near Schaub Road, close to the K-mart near N.C. State.

Three suspects have already been charged in connection to the shooting.

All of the money raised will go to Officer Ainsworth.
