SURRY COUNTY, N.C. -- A traffic stop this week in Surry County led to the arrests of two suspected identity thieves from out of state.

  • Two men from out of state were arrested in Surry County this week.
  • Authorites found 350 fake credit, debit and gift cards in their car.
  • They also found $63,000, more than 100 Redbox games and an instrument for forging credit cards. 

When deputies searched the car they found more than 350 credit, debit and gift cards, along with a device that can erase and rewrite those cards with other peoples' information. 

 Also in the car was $63,000 in cash and more than 100 Redbox games. 

Richard Hughes Jr. and Reginald Brown from Georgia are both charged with conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses. 

Hughes is also charged with identity theft and possession of counterfeit instruments. 

The Surry County Sheriff's Office is working with the SBI and the U.S. Secret Service. Additional charges are expected.
