The Ridge Road Fire District may have its sights set on its newest life-saving firefighter, and it's not someone you'd expect.

Nine-year-old Victoria Brice was sitting at the kitchen table inside her grandmother's house looking through the window on Wednesday when she noticed something across the street that didn’t look right.

“I thought the house was like— there was fog all over there, and then I go 'Mimi look at the fog,' and then she goes 'I don’t think that’s fog, I think that’s smoke,'" Brice said. "Then she goes to her daughter Summer, “I think our neighbor's house is on fire,” so she comes running out banging on the door and windows saying, 'Get out of the house' then she calls 911 and in five seconds they were all here.”

In less than three minutes, firefighters arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews say it started by a birds nest on a power line near the roof.

Victoria, a gymnast and soon to be fourth grader at TJ Connor Elementary in Scottsville, said she likes to help other people. Officials say they have no doubt her quick actions prevented a house fire and potentially saved the lives of the residents sleeping inside.
