On Monday, both Mauna Loa Observatory Road and Mauna Loa Road were closed becasue of the eruption at the summit of the volcano.

The Mauna Loa Observatory Road closure occurred at the intersection with Daniel K. Inouye Highway (also known as Saddle Road), according to a Hawaii Police Department news release.

The Hawaii Police Department said the road closure would be ongoing.

Mauna Loa Road, which is located inside the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, was also closed on Monday from the gate at Kipukapuaulu, according to a HVNP news release.

The summit and cabins were previously closed in October because the volcano was showing signs of unrest and increased seismicity.
