The Rochester Police Department is searching for two men they believe were involved in an assault and possible hate crime on Denver Street on Friday.

Spectrum News is told officers found a 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old man on Melville Street around 1 p.m. after the alleged assault. 

Police say the victims were approached by two people, and engaged in what they are calling a "verbal altercation" that may have involved one of the victim's sexual orientation.

Officials say the 30-year-old man was taken to the hospital after the alleged assault. 

The RPD is investigating this as a possible hate crime.
