ORLANDO, Fla. — Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, a new attraction under construction at EPCOT, has reached another milestone.

What You Need To Know

A large figure of Te Fiti, the goddess character from Disney's 2016 animated film “Moana,” has been installed at the site of the upcoming attraction. Walt Disney Imagineering shared the update on social media along with a photo of the 16-foot figure.

“This morning, our project team at Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana welcomed Te Fiti at her position along the trail,” read the post.

Disney shared a first look at the figure in September — a detailed scale model of the figure was on display at the company’s D23 Expo as part of the event’s Wonderful Worlds of Dreams pavilion.

Set to open in late 2023, in the new World Nature area of the park, Journey of Water will be an outdoor exploration trail that depicts the water cycle through interactive elements, including fountains.

Journey of Water is just one of the new attractions set to open at Disney World next year. Over at Magic Kingdom, Disney is preparing to open TRON Lightcycle Run in the spring.
