DURHAM, N.C. – Less than 24 hours after the fatal explosion in Durham Wednesday morning, groups in the region are already working to raise money to help those impacted.

One local fundraiser is running a GoFundMe campaign called Bull City Rebuilds. Within 22 hours, the campaign passed its goal of $10,000. 

 

 

The organizer says their goal with the money collected is to help the families and businesses impacted by the explosion.
 
Another fundraiser being run on GoFundMe is called the Durham Restaurant Workers Fund
 
Its goal is to help restaurant workers in the area who've lost their livelihoods due to either damage or road closures in the area.
 
Dominion Energy, the company who owns the gas line, says they'll be stationed near the scene for a few days for anyone impacted by the explosion. Victims are able to get assistance of any kind including food and a place to stay.
 
A student at the Durham School of the Arts is raising money for the Lee family, who lost their father-figure and business in the explosion.
 
 
 
 
 
The Lees owned the coffee shop, Kaffeinate, where the explosion occurred.
