DURHAM -- Thursday is the deadline for North Carolina Central University's School of Law to respond to allegations from the American Bar Association.

The ABA warned that the school is out of compliance because it accepts students who aren't capable of passing the bar exam.

According to the ABA, on 54 percent of NC Central students passed the bar in July, which is one of the lowest rates in the state.

ABA officials say the compliance warning doesn't mean the law school's accreditation is at stake right now.
