Save Rochester-Black Lives Matter was at Martin Luther King Jr. Park Thursday afternoon, speaking out against recent arrests of its members.

The organization says five people were arrested Thursday morning in Downtown Rochester, while protesting the death of Daniel Prude in the streets at the corner of State Street and Church Street.

The charges are for disorderly conduct, which the organization is calling for the Rochester Police Department to drop against all five of those arrested.

“What do you want us to be doing? What do you want us to be doing? Selling drugs? Rioting? Shooting each other? We got into good trouble today," said Abdul Bounds of Rochester.

“We think it’s absolutely absurd that five men, literally a handful of people, were arrested this afternoon for doing something that people have been doing in the streets for weeks on end," said Mike Johnson of Save Rochester-Black Lives Matter.

Save Rochester says it will be at Clarissa Street Thursday night to stand in solidarity with those arrested, and to honor Prude's memory.
