SAN ANTONIO -- The community is coming together to remember Andreen McDonald on Saturday.
- Remains were discovered in July
- Went missing at the end of February
- Husband on trial for murder
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office discovered the remains of McDonald nearly five months after she was discovered in a field in far north San Antonio in July. Authorities say McDonald's husband, Air Force veteran Andre McDonald, killed and then dumped her body in the field in February.

Now, as Andre McDonald is preparing to defend himself in a murder trial, a heartbroken family is getting ready to lay to rest a beloved mother. Andreen McDonald was born and raised in Jamaica, but started her career and family in San Antonio.
As final arrangements are underway for this Saturday's funeral at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, the community is stepping in to do what they can to support a family who has lost a loved one due to domestic violence.
"If you want to honor Andreen, help her daughter. There are so many things this young lady is going to need," said Pam Allen, who has been working closely with the family. "We’re very honored to come and help this family, and offer assistance for her daughter."

Allen runs a nonprofit dedicated to helping children with special needs. But, when she heard the financial situation McDonald's family has been struggling to get through, she stepped outside her typical boundaries to make sure the family would be okay, especially for their 8-year-old daughter.
"She does have autism. She's going to need lifelong help," said Allen.
Plus, help to grow up without her mother or father by her side. With a mortgage and other bills still looming, it's going to take time for the family to make it through.
Luckily, though, Allen's organization is helping cover funeral and other costly expenses.
"When that phone call came, they said listen we understand that you typically bury children, would you consider... before they could finish that request, I said absolutely," said Allen.
Allen stepped in without hesitation to help a family trying to mourn and recover.
